Walk in aid of Suicide Awareness

Thu 3 March 2011

Are you up for the challenge of networking while walking in the Mourne mountains?

James, supported by the team at the Ramada Encore, has organised two opportunities for you and your team to "stretch your legs" and take part in one of two walks (relatively easy and not so easy), to raise much need funds for Suicide Awareness.

The walk is followed by a night of entertainment and fun at the SQ Bar in the Ramada Encore so why not use it as an opportunity to have a "social day out" and continue to build relationships with your fellow members?

Imagine how many 1:1s you could have while walking in the beautiful surrounds of the Mourne mountains (assuming you can catch your breath!).

Entry is £50 per team. All proceeds going to Suicide Awareness.

If you are interested in getting involved, perhaps by putting in a chapter team, please contact James direct and he will be delighted to assist you.

Details from James below:

Date: Sunday 27th March 2011

Departure: 10.00am Ramada Encore Talbot Street

·         Walk in the Mourne Mountains

·         Live Music (Acoustic) by Wes Greirson

·         Buffet

·         Quiz

·         Disco

There will be two routes available on the day with the possibility of a third. The main two routes are, an intermediate walk up to the Hares Gap (450 metres above sea level), the 2nd route is a  more challenging route and will break off the 1st route and take a right turn were you will go up and over Slieve Bearnagh. Slieve Bearnagh is a tough and challenging walk but it is very rewarding when you get to the top (739 metres above sea level) with views of most of the Mourne summits and Ben Crom Reservoir. Both groups will meet at the Hares Gap and make our way back to the buses at Meelmore Lodge.

I have to inform you that walking in the mountains is a dangerous sport and you will be doing this at your own risk. There will be experienced walkers on board helping out who are first aid trained. The possibilities of something happening are low. If you have any health problems I would strongly advise that you speak with your G.P before you participate.

Enough of the scary talk J the walk will be very rewarding and its all going to a very good cause, Suicide Awareness which affects everybody in our community. Most of all its about having a laugh and getting away from work for a day.

All participants will need the following Kit List:

·         Suitable Walking Shoes/Boots

·         Waterproof coat and trousers are advised

·         Packed Lunch

·         Change of clothes for afterwards

·         Any Medication i.e. Inhalers, Heart Tablets etc

For any more information please don’t hesitate to contact me.
