BNI EUROPEAN CONFERENCE 2012 "FORWARD TO BASICS"
Tue 8 May 2012
From Andy Bounds kick-off where he spent an hour with us showing us how to communicate more effectively with our teams, through to the close where Andrew Hall left us in tears, this was by far the best BNI conference that I have attended.
For 3 days more almost 400 BNI Directors from across Europe came togther, not to learn new things, but to focus on going Forward to Basics. Its not that we have been doing things wrong, its just that sometimes we forget what has always worked really well in the past.
Andy Bounds showed us that communication is only effective if it achieves the DO!
Mike Roberts an ED from the USA who looks after 130 chapters with 2,800 members, focussed us on training styles.
Andrew Hall - WOW. We teach our members to use stories to help to find more referrals. What a story teller helping us to get the message that success only comes when opportunity meets passion. We don't have any more goals - just WANTS
The highlight for me from the conference? Having the privilege of welcoming more than 180 new BNI Director Consultants to their 1st conference was fantastic. I was a little off guard when I looked out into the audience and realised that Elizabeth Misner, the wife of Dr Ivan Misner our Founder and Chairman, was in the audience made me even more nervous.
My proudest moment was when Derbyshire South came away with 2 National Awards: Outstanding Performance from a Director Consultant - well done to Ian Wright, well done for all your hard work, and Outstanding Performance in Member Traffic Lights.
My conference take aways? Whilst the rest maybe concentrating on recession, BNI can say that referrals are at record levels, closed business is increasing to new highs, membership is up and we are getting new visitors and members every day.
I would like to thank all of the team that helped with the Conference Orientation. I cannot wait until next year but have one major worry - do they make venues that BIG in the UK??
